Why Renolume

The difference is that you can check the number

Every renovation cost tool produces a figure. Almost none of them let you see how it was produced, or admit how sure it is.

  • 01

Know the scope before you compare the price

Three quotes can describe three different jobs — one includes tear-off and decking repair, another assumes an overlay. Renolume writes the scope out in plain English first, with the assumptions and conditions behind it, so price is the last thing you compare rather than the only thing you can.

  • 02

    Job modelling, not line items

A cost database prices a unit of work. Renolume models the whole job — every task in sequence, with quantities derived from your inputs, waste factors, access constraints, disposal, permits and the interactions between them.

  • 03

    A visible rule trace

Each estimate lists the conditional rules your answers activated, what each one did and in which direction. You can audit the number instead of trusting it.

  • 04

    Confidence as a first-class output

A 0–100 score, the factors behind it, a range that widens as certainty falls, and a concrete list of what would raise it. Estimates without a measured local wage sample are capped at Preliminary.

  • 05

Good / Better / Best, side by side

Specification tiers compared in one view — cost, scope and timeline all moving together, so you can see what upgrading actually buys.

  • 06

    Scenarios that persist

Save variants, come back, compare them and export a planning report. Renovation decisions take weeks; your estimate should survive the tab closing.

  • 07

    Independent by construction

No lead resale, no contractor matching, no referral fees. Nothing in the business model rewards a flattering number.

What a rule trace looks like

The audit trail is the product. Each condition your answers activate is listed with its effect, so the total is a sum you can check rather than a figure you have to accept.

Illustrative trace. Every estimate ships with its own, drawn from the rules your answers actually activated.

Where Renolume is deliberately limited

Renolume produces planning estimates. It cannot inspect your property, cannot know your local contractor's current backlog, and does not track weekly commodity swings. Where those things dominate a price, the confidence score falls and the range widens — by design.
